qothu desert
anda
it is unknown exactly where the anda begins, but it is well known where it ends. winding its way through the qothu desert, if one were to look at a satellite image the river is all but a stream, barely noticeable in the expanse of sand. But to those residents who call the qothu home, it is a lifesaver. freshwater, and never running dry in all of spoken history, no matter the heat, the anda is the sole water source in the desert, aside from the small ponds that may rise in the scarce rainstorms that manage to make their way into the qothu. its shores boast fertile soil, and every now and then, its crops have been enough for small herds of hooved beasts to safely traverse the desert, following the water to some unknown land.

ensiuma
for those who know the way and can read the clues the rock formations of the qothu give, there is a great reward to be had beneath the surface. there are several entrances to the ensiuma, and thus is revealed an area traversed not by sight, but by sound, scent, taste, and touch. these underground caverns in fact span most of the desert, and come complete with their own water supply, the result of the waters of the anda seeping below the surface. there is even life to be found in eyeless serpents and colonies of bats sustained by a plethora of insects. memory is key here, for without it one may never find their way out, but those who dare to enter may find any number of precious metal ores and gemstones to be had for the taking, most easily accessible and capable of being removed from the stone by even a wolf’s claws. the trouble is, are you smart enough to figure out where they are without your eyes, and can you remember the way back out?

barren. dry. hot. these three words are the primary descriptors used by the denizens of the qothu, and rightly so. it is a desert, and like most, it is primarily made up of seemingly endless reaches of sand. with very little plant life to mark the soil, one might see the occasional cacti, and unwary travellers may find their paws poisoned by the bite of sand-dwelling scorpions and reptiles, but there is little to break the monotony of this land. a few rock formations still remain, but most of the expanse has been blown to sand by the winds, and those who seek to find a life here must be incredibly clever, and vicious enough to strike down all competitors, lest they lose what precious few resources can be found. despite this, the qothu boasts a large amount of precious metals and gemstones, if one knows how to decipher the scarce rock formations clues to lead to underground caverns below.
